FLORHAM PARK, N.J. - New York Jets linebacker Aaron Maybin has signed his one-year restricted free agent tender, as expected, and returned to the team after a breakout season.

The former Penn State standout announced on Twitter that he signed the tender Monday morning as the Jets players reported for voluntary workouts. The tender was worth $1.26 million, his original draft round level.

Maybin was a first-round pick of Buffalo, No. 11 overall, in 2009 but struggled to get playing time in two disappointing seasons with the Bills. He was waived last August and signed by the Jets, but cut after training camp ended. New York re-signed him in late-September and Maybin ended up leading the Jets with the first six sacks of his NFL career.
