The South Eastern school board recently voted to send the state Department of Education an application to get reimbursement for renovations at all three of its elementary schools.
The state established an end-of-September deadline for accepting applications for reimbursement.
State officials have said there will be a moratorim on state funding for projects submitted after that date while Pennsylvania reviews its reimbursement procedure.
"We are not requesting anyspecific amount of money," said Superintendent Rona Kaufmann, noting potential statereimbursement would be calculated based on the cost of the project.
"We have not yet determined what, if any, renovation projects will be done," she added.
But the board did decide to submit requests for all three elementary schools rather than an alternative proposal, which called for one new, centrally located elementary school.
Kaufmann told the board in September that administrators preferred the option that called for renovations.
