Yorkers will soon have another option when traveling to Florida.

Beginning Oct. 31, Allegiant will offer nonstop flights between Harrisburg International Airport and Orlando-Sandford International Airport, officials for the airline and airport announced Thursday morning.

Allegiant will also offer nonstop flights between Harrisburg and St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport, starting Nov. 2.

Introductory fares to Orlando will be $64.99 or more one way, and one-way flights to Tampa will be $94.99 or more. Taxes and fees are included.

"The Orlando and Tampa Bay regions are the most popular Florida destinations for travelers throughout our area," said Timothy Edwards, executive director of the Harrisburg airport.

Nonstop flights to Tampa Bay have been at the top of midstate travelers' wish lists for years, he said.

Flight reservations and vacation packages are available for booking through Jan. 13, and can be scheduled on the airline's website at www.allegiant.com or by calling 702-505-8888.

"We are confident area residents will appreciate the convenience of flying nonstop to these world class vacation destinations and the value of bundling their air, hotel and car rental reservation together," said Andrew Levy, Allegiant president.
