Stoverstown's baseball team enjoyed some home cooking on the holiday.

The Tigers swept a Memorial Day doubleheader on their diamond to take over first place in the Central League.

Stoverstown defeated Pleasureville, 9-2, in the morning game and completed the sweep with a 9-3 victory over Dover in the afternoon contest.

The Tigers improved to 5-1 overall.

Zach Schuler was a perfect 5-for-5 in the two games with four runs and two RBIs. Kyle Wildasin (4-for-5, four RBIs two runs), Brandon Wolfe (4-for-6, four RBIs) and Kurt Krout (4-for-6, five runs and one RBI) also had big days for Stoverstown.

Tigers' pitchers Ryan Kassab and Jon Patino combined to shut out Pleasureville in their six innings or work. Patino recorded six strikeouts and one walk.

Chet Haifley had two hits for the Hawks.

Dave Slusser pitched a completed for Stoverstown against Dover. Slusser struck out nine and walked one.

Chris Bubb cracked two doubles and drove in a run for Dover, and Derek Helwig and Patrick Moriarty collected two hits apiece.

OTHER CENTRAL LEAGUE GAMES

JEFFERSON 2, SHILOH 1 (10 INNINGS): At Jefferson, pinch runner Steve Porter raced home with the winning run in the bottom of the 10th. Pat Schultz opened the 10th with a single and Colin Porter followed by reaching on a bunt single. Tyler Troxel also bunted and Steve Porter, who went in to run for Schultz, scored on a throwing error. Jefferson broke a scoreless tie with a run in the last of the sixth, but Shiloh forced extra innings with a run in the top of the seventh. Eli Vottero and Dylan Schwartzler combined for five Shiloh hits. Jeff Kemberling had two hits for Jefferson. Both starting pitchers, Shiloh's Alex Gingerich and Jefferson's Brian Bossom, pitched all 10 innings. Gingerich struck out five and walked three, and Bossom struck out six and walked one.

MOUNT WOLF 4, MAN CHESTER 0: At Manchester, Kyle Cook pitched a four-hit shutout to lead the Wolves. Cook struck out five and walked two. Jason Kelly pitched a complete game in the loss, striking out seven without allowing a walk. Mark Burnside (2-for-3, one run scored) and Trent Kline (2-for-4) led the Mount Wolf offense. Logan Allison had three of Manchester's four hits.

MOUNT WOLF 12, JEF FERSON 4: Host Mount Wolf took a 6-0 lead with a six-run first inning. Jefferson scored three runs in the second and one in the third to make it 6-4, but Mount Wolf scored six runs in the sixth to seal the win. Colin Porter paced Jefferson, going 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs. Ashton Taughenbaugh (2-for-4, five RBIs, three-run homer) led Mount Wolf.

GLEN ROCK 2, DOVER 1: Host Glen Rock took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on an RBI double from Tim Frisch. Dover's Austin Rickrode tied it in the sixth with a solo homer. Glen Rock won it in the bottom of the seventh when Steve Egan scored from second on a Dover error. Glen Rock pitchers Casey Hood and Tim Frisch (win) combined to hold Dover to one run on five hits with one strikeout and four walks.

GLEN ROCK 8, PLEA SUREVILLE 4: Host Glen Rock scored two runs each in the first four innings. Glen Rock's Dan Rhodes had a solo homer and Mason Heyne and Tim Frisch each had two-run homers. Kameron Armacost paced Pleasureville by going 2-for-4 with a run and three RBIs. Glen Rock pitcher Jason Gotwalt picked up the win by holding Pleasureville to three runs on five hits with a strikeout and two walks in four innings.

MANCHESTER 4, SHILOH 2: Visiting Manchester took the lead in the fourth on a two-run single from Jason Kelly and extended the lead to 4-2 in the fifth on an RBI single from Levi Rentzel. Pitcher Josh Reeser picked up the win by holding Shiloh to two runs on five hits with one strikeout and no walks in five innings. Eli Vottero led Shiloh, going 2-for-3 with a run scored.
