A pair of former York County high school football standouts didn't get selected in the NFL draft over the weekend, but both will still get a shot to earn an NFL roster spot.

Susquehannock High School graduate Chaz Powell has signed a free-agent contract with the Oakland Raiders, while Central York High School graduate Wayne Tribue has signed a free-agent contract with the Denver Broncos.

Powell played his college ball at Penn State, where he was a starting cornerback last season. He was also a starting wideout and the Nittany Lions' main kickoff return man during his stay in Happy Valley. The 6-foot, 1-inch 206-pounder with a 4.5-second speed in the 40-yard dash will likely get his chance to make the Raiders as a backup defensive back and special teams performer.

Tribue, meanwhile, was a starting offensive lineman at Temple University. The 6-foot, 3-inch, 329-pounder will get the opportunity to block for Denver's new starting quarterback, Peyton Manning. Manning was the longtime QB for the Indianapolis Colts who recently signed as a free agent with the Broncos.
