Bill O Brien s the guy in charge, and he s not shy about telling you so. Probably a good thing for the head coach of a major college football program. And for one following a legend and helping right a listing ship.  
 
Penn State defensive tackle Jordan Hill has told WHTM Channel 27 in Harrisburg that he plans to return to the Nittany Lions for his senior season.  
 
Four Penn State players have accepted invitations to play in the 63rd annual Senior Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 28. Defensive end Jack Crawford, cornerback D Anton Lynn, All-America defensive tackle Devon Still and guard Johnnie Troutman are scheduled to play on the North squad in the contest.

In the end, the bowl game played out like much of the season. Penn State s once promising quarterback looked incapable of playing at this level, missing open receivers. The O line let defenders charge untouched to the QB. Receivers dropped big passes at crucial moments. Special teams couldn t come through.  
 
With Robert Bolden at quarterback, the Penn State defense will have to carry a heavy load vs. Houston in the TicketCity Bowl.  
 
In between your celebration of Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, or the winter solstice, and preparations for New Year s Day, you may have forgotten Penn State s football team is playing in a bowl game next Monday. It s actually what would be a New Year s Day Bowl, as all those games have moved to Jan. 2 so the NFL can conclude its regular season on Sunday, Jan. 1.  
 
About 340 former players sent Joe Paterno a greeting for his 85th birthday Wednesday. They did it to let their old coach know they still care about him and support him in his battle with lung cancer. And to thank him for all he did for them, their careers, their families, and their school. These former Nittany Lions can do a lot to bring the football program back, too.  
 
The Penn State football team, I think, has handled the unbelievable year they ve been through with utmost grace and poise. Until this past week.  
 
The Penn State football team has collected some more honors. The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) has recognized the PSU program for the Nittany Lions Graduation Success Rate for the 21st time in the AFCA s annual Academic Achievement Award survey.
