District 3 Tournament
Hershey 71, Central 64 (OT): At Warwick, the Panthers led by six entering the fourth quarter (43-37), but the Trojans rallied to tie the game and went on to win the game in overtime. Sam Saxton led the Panthers offense by scoring 18 points, including three from behind the arc. Teammates Charlie Gingrich knocked in 17 points, while Royce Clemens scored 14 points. For the game, Hershey shot (14-20), while Central shot (6-11) from the foul line. Chase Watkins led the Trojans with a game high 20 points. Central (24-4) finished fourth in the District 3 Class AAAA Tournament and will face the loser of the District 1 third-place game between Conestoga and West Chester Rustin in the first round of the PIAA State Tournament. The Conestoga-West Chester Rustin game is scheduled for Friday night.
Berks Catholic 59, West York 54 (OT): At Garden Spot, the Bulldogs trailed by six points going into the the fourth quarter (35-29), but they rallied to tie the game and send it into overtime. However, Berks Catholic took the lead back in the extra time and went on to capture the victory. Kevin Rice led the Bulldogs' offense with a 15 points. Teammate Nick Traettino knocked in 11, including three from behind the arc. For the Saints, Nana Foulland led all scorers with 20 points. With the loss, West York (24-4) will be the sixth seed in the PIAA Class AAA State Tournament and will face the District 11 Champion, either Allentown Central Catholic or Pottsville. The game will be played on Friday night.
Bishop McDevitt 57, Bermudian Springs 44: At Northern, Bishop McDevitt jumped out to a 19-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and led the rest of the way to capture the District 3 Class AAA third-place game. Caleb Barwin led the Crusaders with 13 points. Alex Orwig also scored 13 points for Bermudian Springs, which will take a 22-4 record into the PIAA State Tournament. The Eagles will take on the winner of the Holy Ghost Prep-Lower Moreland game in the first round of states.
