Central York High School will welcome some of the best boys' volleyball teams in Pennsylvania on Saturday.

The Koller Classic will feature 11 teams that are ranked among the top 10 teams in the state in either Class AAA or Class AA by the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association.

That includes Northeastern, which is No. 1 in AA, and North Allegheny, which is No. 1 in AAA.

In addition, Fair Lawn High School, which is coming off back-to-back state championships in New Jersey, is also expected to compete.

The other competing AAA schools ranked by the PVCA are: No. 2 Hempfield, No. 3 Chambersburg, No. 4 Pennsbury, No. 5 Central Dauphin, No. 6 Central York and No. 7 Parkland.

The other ranked AA programs participating are: No. 2 Ambridge, No. 3 Derry Area and No. 4. Bethlehem Catholic.

In addition to Northeastern and Central, York County will also be represented by Dallastown and York Suburban.

In all, 20 teams will participate in the tournament, which is named after former Central York head coach Bruce Koller.

Koller is expected to be on hand to award the championship trophy. The tournament was started 38 years ago by Koller.

Action on Saturday starts at 8:30 a.m.

A junior varsity tournament is set for Friday, starting at 4 p.m.

BOYS' VOLLEYBALL MATCHES

NORTHERN YORK 3, NEW OXFORD 0: At New Oxford, the Colonials dropped the non-league match, 25-15, 25-17, 25-21. Tyler Steckbeck (10 kills, five digs), Joel Madina (21 assists) and Ross Starner (eight kills, five digs) led New Oxford. Randy Violette (12 kills, nine digs) and Andy Swivel (eight digs, six kills) paced Northern. The Polar Bears also won the JV match, 25-13, 25-20.

RED LAND 3, EASTERN YORK 0: At Wrightsville, the Golden Knights fell, 25-18, 25-13, 25-14. Austin Miller (12 assists), Sandon Eaton (eight digs, five kills) and Jason Seitz (nine digs) led Eastern. Red Land also won the JV match, 25-22, 23-25, 15-12.

CHAMBERSBURG 3, SPRING GROVE 0: At Spring Grove, the Rockets fell to the Trojans, who came in ranked No. 3 in Class AAA in the latest Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association poll. Chambersburg is the defending PIAA State Class AAA champion.

CENTRAL DAUPHIN 3, DALLASTOWN 0: At Central Dauphin, the Wildcats dropped a 25-23, 25-13, 25-13 decision to the Rams, who are ranked No. 5 in Class AAA in the latest Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
