The York High Bearcats outlasted Christian School of York in a wild non-league baseball game at Cousler Park on Thursday afternoon, 19-13.
York High exploded for 11 runs in the fifth inning to wipe out a five-run deficit.
Lesabiel Castro and Adaverto Huertas collected three hits each for the Bearcats, and Jeff Peralta, Roberto Rosado, Chris Rodriguez and Colby Evans Jr. each had two hits. Peralta drove in four run and Rosado delivered two teammates.
Luke Dixon finished with two hits and two RBIs for CSY.
OTHER BASEBALL
DOVER 5, SUSQUE HANNOCK 0: At Dover, Eagles' pitcher Nate Bachynski shut down Susquehannock on five hits, all singles. The junior needed just 71 pitches to complete his assignment. He struck out two and walked two. Dover jumped on top immediately in the Senior Day game, scoring four runs in its first at bat. Ross Drawbaugh and Dalton Heim both cracked two-run doubles in the opening inning. Dover's Mitch Slater, who went 2-for-4, was the game's only multiple hitter. The Eagles, who knocked off Northeastern on Wednesday, will close out their season on Friday against York Suburban.
YORK CATHOLIC 8, FAIRFIELD 6: At Fairfield, York Catholic jumped out to a 6-0 lead and then held off a rallying Green Knights' team. Jake Krevetski pitched the first 51/3 innings for the Fighting Irish to earn the victory. Krevetski struck out eight, walked three and allowed three earned runs. Erich Hartman followed Krevetski to the mound, and Mark Burnside came in to record the final out of the game. Cody Maddox collected two hits for York Catholic, and Burnside and Clint Bohn cracked doubles. Fairfield's Nathan Harbaugh pitched the entire game, giving up just one earned run. He struck out 12 and supported his own cause with a homer. The Green Knights scored all of their runs in the last two innings.
CENTRAL 4, PENN MANOR 3: At Central, the Panthers plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead and went on to capture the non-league win. Travis Shaffer led the Panthers with a complete game, striking out four and walking three. At the plate, Shaffer also scored twice. Teammate Roy Walker had two hits.
RED LAND 9, RED LION 4: At Sovereign Bank Stadium, the Patriots captured the non-league victory to improve to 12-6 on the season Red Lion fell to 10-9.
