The Central York softball team remained alone in first place in York-Adams Division I on Tuesday afternoon, but it wasn't easy.
The Panthers outlasted visiting Kennard-Dale, 6-5, in 10 innings.
Central improved to 7-2 overall and 6-1 in Division I. The Rams fell to 4-4 overall and 4-3 in Division II.
Central's Jordyn Miller (3-for-5, four RBIs, run) tied the game at 5-5 with a two-run triple in the sixth. In the bottom of the 10th, Kelsey Wisner scored the winning run from third on a wild pitch by K-D starter Desi Joines.
Panthers' starter Taylor Rohrbaugh (10 innings pitched, five runs, six hits, six strikeouts, three walks) picked up the complete-game win.
OTHER SOFTBALL
SPRING GROVE 5, SOUTH WESTERN 2: At Hanover, the first-place Rockets improved to 9-2 overall and 7-1 in York-Adams Division II. Erika Heck picked up a complete-game, eight-hit victory. She struck out two and walked one. Amy Bentley went 3-for-4 for the winners with a double, while Hayley Norton finished 2-for-3, including a homer, to go with two RBIs. Brittney Orwig added a 2-for-4 afternoon for the Rockets. Sarah Bortner pitched a complete game for South Western, with five strikeouts and one walk. She was also 2-for-3 at the plate, including a double. Heather Dell added two doubles and an RBI for the Mustangs, while Kirstin Hertzog went 2-for-3.
DALLASTOWN 9, NORTHEASTERN 2: At Dallastown, Haylee Anders and Sam Hartman were each 3-for-4 to lead the Wildcats. Hartman hit a two-run homer in the first and finished with three RBIs. Anders had a single, double and triple to go with two RBIs. Kelsey Collins and Kayla Merriman combined on a five-hitter for the Wildcats, with five strikeouts and zero walks. Lynsey Billet doubled for Northeastern. Dallastown improved to 8-2 overall and 5-2 in York-Adams Division I.
SUSQUEHANNOCK 13, DELONE CATHOLIC 6: At Glen Rock, the Warriors took advantage of 16 walks to hand Delone its first loss of the season. Delone outhit Susquehannock, 12-4, but couldn't overcome the free passes. Sara Lynch pitched a complete game to get the win. She fanned 10 and walked six. Deanna Laughman went 5-for-5 for Delone, which fell to 8-1 overall and in York-Adams Division IV. The Warriors improved to 5-5 overall and 3-5 in York-Adams Division III.
RED LION 11, DOVER 6: At Red Lion, Ali Posey and Megan Chapman belted homers to power the Lions to the win. Katie Shultz got the win on the mound and also finished 2-for-3 at the plate. She struck out five and walked five. Amy Shaulis also had two hits for the Lions. Alexis Shoemaker had two hits for Dover.
LITTLESTOWN 16, YORK CATHOLIC 6: At Littlestown, Alyson Shroeder pitched a complete-game six-hitter for Littlestown. She struck out eight and walked three. The game was ended in the bottom of the sixth because of the 10-run mercy rule. Skye Ripple slugged two homers for the Lady Bolts. Carrie Fix banged two homers for York Catholic and also pitched a complete-game seven-hitter. She struck out four but allowed 11 walks.
EASTERN YORK 14, HANOVER 4: The host Golden Knights had three players hit a homer in a five-inning game. Eastern was led by Erin Kalke (2-for-3, home run, double, two runs), Alexis Krug (2-for-3, home run, two runs) and Grace Divet (2-for-2, three runs). Mariah Miller also had a homer for Eastern.
FAIRFIELD 12, YORK SUBURBAN 2: At Suburban, the Trojans were hurt by six errors and three walks in the loss. The Green Knights trailed 1-0 before scoring three runs in the third, seven runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth to take control. Suburban's Emmy Turbury pitched a complete game in the loss. She also doubled and scored a run.
