Central York improved to 4-0 in York-Adams Division I softball action on Wednesday afternoon with a dominating 9-1 victory over second-place South Western.
The Mustangs entered at 3-1 in the division.
Taylor Rohrbaugh shut down South Western on five hits, all singles. Rohrbaugh displayed outstanding control, striking out five and not issuing any walks. She helped her own cause with two hits, including a double.
Central (4-1 overall) clubbed 13 hits, six of which went for extra bases. Darrian Schade drilled a double and a triple and drove in three runs. Courtney Hastings, Jordyn Miller and Kelsey Wisner also had two hits apiece for the winners, who scored five times in the bottom of the sixth.
South Western fell to 3-2 overall and in the division.
OTHER SOFTBALL
KENNARD-DALE 2, NORTHEASTERN 0: At Fawn Grove, Desiree Joines pitched a one-hitter for K-D, striking out 14 without a walk. Rachael Delawder, Rhiannon McGlone and Sarah Baldwin each had two hits for the Rams. Delawder had an RBI double. Missy Reeder had Northeastern's only hit -- a third-inning double. Maddie Renard went the distance for the Bobcats, allowing six hits. She struck out five and walked one.
RED LION 6, NEW OXFORD 1: At New Oxford, Mackenzie Rumberg pitched a complete-game four-hitter to lead the Lions. She struck out six and didn't walk anyone. Alexa Taylor and Hailey Orwig had two hits each for the Lions. Orwig and Megan Chapman doubled, while Kelsey Clever homered for Red Lion. Nicole Ayers pitched a complete game for New Oxford, allowing just three earned runs.
DELONE CATHOLIC 10, YORK CATHOLIC 4: At York Catholic, the Squirettes improved to 5-0 both overall and in York-Adams Division IV. Rachel Heuisler pitched a complete-game seven-hitter. She struck out five and walked two. Casara McCleaf tripled for the winners, while Alexis Arthur doubled. Carrie Fix tripled and doubled for York Catholic.
SPRING GROVE 10, BERMUDIAN SPRINGS 0: At Spring Grove, Erika Heck threw a one-hit shutout in a game ended after five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule. Heck struck out nine and walked two. The only hit she allowed came to the first batter. In her previous outing, Heck had thrown a nine-inning perfect game. Freshman Hayley Norton blasted two homers and drove in three runs for the winners. Jena Hull, Jess Patchel and Amy Bentley each doubled for the Rockets.
YORK TECH 21, HANO VER 4: At Hanover, the Spartans exploded for five runs each in the first three innings to take a commanding lead. Cheyenne Fulcher led the offense by going 4-for-4, including a double, to go with six RBIs. Melissa Negron went 3-for-5 with a double for Tech, while Dani Aikins connected for a three-run homer. Tech's Savannah Grimes went 3-for-4. Tech improved to 4-1 in York-Adams Division IV and 4-1 overall.
WEST YORK 7, DOVER 6: At West York, the Bulldogs trailed 6-5 entering the final inning, when the Bulldogs mounted a comeback, highlighted by Paige Runkle's RBI single, to win the York-Adams Division II game. Cheyenne Warner went 4-for-4, including a triple, a double and an RBI, for West York. For the Eagles, Alexis Gohn went 2-for-4, including a triple, with one RBI. Andi Smith and Teala Raber each went 2-for-4 with one RBI for Dover.
LITTLESTOWN 4, SUS QUEHANOCK 0: At Glen Rock, the Thunderbolts plated three runs in the top of the fourth and went on to win the York-Adams Division III game. Casey Saylor and Skye Ripple each had a double for the Thunderbolts. For the Warriors, Jordan McGee had a double.
EASTERN 8, YORK SUBURBAN 3: At Suburban, the Golden Knights plated three runs each in the top of fifth and top of the sixth to put the game out of reach. Erin Kalke led the Knights, going 4-for-4, including a double. Chelsea Talbot went 2-for-4 for Eastern, while Sierra Arnold struck out four, while walking two to pick up the victory. For the Trojans, Brooke Day went 2-for-4 with an RBI, Britt Dalton went 2-for-4 and Rachel Fry pitched a complete game, striking out six and walking one.
