Since the York-Adams League started girls' lacrosse in 2009, Kennard-Dale and South Western have been the teams to beat.
The Rams have won three straight Division II crowns and also won the league's first-ever tournament championship a year ago. South Western has earned the last two Division I titles.
The two perennial powers faced off on Wednesday afternoon in an early-season showdown in Fawn Grove. The final verdict wasn't decided until Abbey Pietra scored the game-winning goal in overtime to give the Rams a 10-9 triumph.
Nicole Black scored two goals and added five assists for K-D, while Morgan Day, Taylor Davis and Carlie Schmitt each scored two goals.
For the Mustangs, Callie Kavanaugh scored three goals,
K-D improved to 3-0, while South Western fell to 2-1.
OTHER GIRLS' LACROSSE
SPRING GROVE 9, RED LION 8 (OT): At Red Lion, Summer Walter connected for the game-winning goal halfway into the six-minute, sudden-death overtime period to push the visiting Rockets past the Lions. Walter's goal was her fourth of the match. Raquel Rich answered with four goals for Red Lion. Spring Grove goalie Amanda Craver recorded 17 saves, and Red Lion goalie Amanda Dashler made 14 saves.
YORK SUBURBAN 18, DALLASTOWN 11: At Suburban, Karis Reiter led the Trojans, scoring five goals. Alex Anderson and Jenna Williams each scored three goals, while Allison Tuttle, Gabe Greco and Cierra Eckenrode each scored two goals. For the Wildcats, Mackenzie Groff and Carly Godstrey each scored three goals, while Emily Pettit and Breann Young each scored two goals.
SUSQUEHANNOCK 19, NEW OXFORD 5: At Susquehannock, Brooke Clasing and Lauren Tennant led the Warriors, scoring five goals apiece. Bri Boyer scored four goals, while Brit Boyer scored two goals.
WEST YORK 19, CENTRAL YORK 6: At Central, Karli Breeden scored seven goals and Allie Ilgenfritz added four goals and four assists to lead West York to victory. Allie Scott had four goals for Central.
BOYS' LACROSSE
CENTRAL 10, WEST YORK 9 (3OT): At West York, Ian Desenberg led the Panthers to the dramatic victory, scoring four goals and picking up two assists. Nate Troupe scored four goals with one assist, while Max Haldeman scored two goals. For the Bulldogs, Seth Clauser scored three goals and had two assists, while Klayton Garman scored two goals and chipped in one assist. Tanner Gerace scored one goal with two assists.
DALLASTOWN 9, YORK SUBURBAN 1: At Dallastown, the Wildcats led 5-0 at the half and went on to capture the victory. Jake Mitchell led the home team, scoring four goals and adding two assists. Tyler Wise scored two goals and added one assist, while Tanner Bogaczyk added two goals.
KENNARD-DALE 17, SOUTH WESTERN 13: At Hanover, James Barlow led the Rams, scoring five goals and adding two assists. Jesse Shonbrunner scored three goals and chipped in four assists, while Nate Mikolinis scored five goals. For the Mustangs, Carnie Fryfogle scored four goals and added three assists.
SUSQUEHANNOCK 13, SPRING GROVE 2: At Spring Grove, Zach Speights led the Rockets, scoring three goals and picking up three assists. Zach Gloeckner scored four goals and had one assist and John Chamberlin scored two goals and had one assist, while Sean Kaliszak scored one goal and registered one assist.
