UPDATE: All lanes of Route 30 in Springettsbury Township reopened about 10 a.m., according to a York County 911 supervisor.

REPORTED EARLIER:

Route 30 in Springettsbury Township is expected to reopen soon, after an overturned tractor-trailer forced police to close both eastbound and westbound lanes on Friday morning, Springettsbury Township Police Chief Tom Hyers said.

"It's going to be open soon," he said shortly after 9 a.m.

As of 9:30 a.m., one eastbound lane had reopened, according to a York County 911 Center supervisor.

The crash happened about 5:50 a.m. just west of the Mount Zion Road exit, according to online information from the 911 Center.

A tractor-trailer and a passenger car, both eastbound, collided, Hyers said, adding the investigation is ongoing and must still determine who was at fault.

The driver of the car escaped injury and the truck driver suffered an arm injury, according to the chief.

A third car was somehow involved in the accident as well, but left the scene, he said.

"We don't know what (that car's) role was," Hyers said. He is asking the driver of that vehicle to contact police.

A witness to the crash told investigators the tractor-trailer driver wasn't speeding, he said.

Hyers said he and Hellam Township Police Chief Mark Sowers will meet on Tuesday to discuss issues on the stretch of Route 30 that runs through both Springettsbury and Hellam townships.

"We're coming up with a strategy for addressing the traffic concerns, serious accidents and fatalities we've had on Route 30 for the past couple of months," Hyers said.

"There will be very strict enforcement, very aggressive enforcement," he added. "There won't be many warnings issued."

Anyone who witnessed the crash or who knows the identity of the third driver who left the scene is asked to call Springettsbury Township Police at (717)757-3525.
