Burgers weren't the only things being flipped recently at a Shrewsbury Township McDonald's.
Homer Weikel IV, 21, and his three passengers escaped serious injury Nov. 24 when he lost control of his car in a McDonald's drive-through, causing it to overturn, police said.
The Shrewsbury man was charged Tuesday with driving under the influence, reckless driving and careless driving for the 1:04 a.m. crash, according to court records.
Weikel and passenger Sabrina Lycliter, 21, of Glen Rock, suffered moderate injuries and were taken to York Hospital for treatment, state police said.
His other passengers -- Ray Cotton, 22, of York and Jasmine Griffith, 22, of New Freedom -- escaped injury, police said.
According to police, Weikel accelerated quickly while leaving the drive-through window of the McDonald's on Mount Airy Road and lost control.
The Hyundai Sonata he was driving struck a curb, went over a stone wall and flipped, police said.
