The Associated Press isn't identifying the girl because she was tried in Erie County Juvenile Court, where the Erie Times-News ( http://bit.ly/1f6VA35) reports she was sentenced Thursday.
Judge John Trucilla says the girl may be moved to a less restrictive juvenile program if she shows signs she can be rehabilitated.
The girl's mother, Alma Zilkic (ZIL'-kitch), asked for leniency saying, "Nothing is going to bring my son back. I don't want to lose my daughter, too."
Erie police say the girl took one of her parents' vehicles without permission and crashed Aug. 13 after weeks of misbehavior and rebellion.
