CENTERVILLE, Pa.—A fight between two acquaintances in western Pennsylvania left one man dead and the other hospitalized.

Authorities say they're still investigating details, but the fight began mid-morning Tuesday in a garage workshop.

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco says 43-year-old Robert Joseph Watson of Bentleyville, was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Family members at the scene identified the shooter as Joe Volcheck and claimed that he acted in self-defense after Watson allegedly hit him with a large lead pipe. Volcheck was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh area hospital and was later released.

Investigators say they hope to interview Volcheck in the hospital.
