Officials say the shooting happened around 2 p.m. Thursday in Brockway, Jefferson County, about 100 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, when troopers and other law enforcement officers tried to serve a warrant at a home.
Deputy State Police Commissioner Lt. Col. George Bivens tells The Courier Express (bit.ly/191QKSF) that shots were fired as officers approached the house. A trooper, who has not been identified, was hit twice. Bivens says he is in critical condition at an Altoona hospital.
The alleged shooter remains in the building, and state police and local and wildlife conservation officers are at the scene.
