BILLINGS, Mont.—Officials in southern Montana have released the name of a 22-year-old Pennsylvania man who drowned in East Rosebud Lake.

Undersheriff Dan McJunkin tells The Billings Gazette ( http://bit.ly/12Yt4N1) that Christopher M. Elliott drowned in the lake west of Red Lodge on July 24. He had been swimming with friends when he went underwater and didn't re-surface.

The search for his body was hampered by thick vegetation at the bottom of the lake.

Elliott's body was recovered on Aug. 3.

An autopsy confirmed Elliott drowned.
