The Daily Local News reports ( http://bit.ly/YZFLS8) the Downingtown Area Senior Center will likely have to be closed for at least a month. The center has been shuttered since March 11 and is expected to remain closed for 30 to 90 days from the beginning of the cleaning period.
Executive Director Bill Pierce says an odor was noted at the center in the last week of February and environmental tests were conducted the following week. Those tests were inconclusive, prompting the walls of the center's administrative office to be cut open earlier this month.
Mold was found in an area where the wall is shared by the senior center and an adjacent building.
