Dr. Eli Stavisky, a board member at Temple's School of Dentistry, says the school is in talks to open a Scranton campus. He tells The Times-Tribune of Scranton ( http://bit.ly/YaTVgC) that third- and fourth-year students would see patients in clinics either opened by Temple or in existing clinics that have agreements with the school.
The Philadelphia-based university may also partner with Scranton's Commonwealth Medical College to have dental students take some science courses alongside medical students.
A Temple spokeswoman confirms the school is in the early stages of the planning process.
Stavisky says a dental school could help ease a regional shortage of dentists.
