YORK, Pa.—A witness has testified that a central Pennsylvania man charged with murder in the slaying of a neighbor after a long-running dispute shot the victim "point-blank."

The York Daily Record ( http://bit.ly/12JWy0v) says Margaret Ginter was in tears in York County Court on Monday as she recounted the June death of 47-year-old David Wintermyer in Springettsbury Township.

She rejected the contention of 43-year-old defendant Spencer Newcomer IV that he fired because he thought the other man was reaching into his pocket for a weapon.

Authorities say the two had been feuding for a long time over Newcomer's dogs and property.

Defense attorney Chris Ferro told jurors that his client acted in self-defense in what he called an "explosive, horrifying situation" with a "stronger, bigger, volatile man who hated him."
