WARMINSTER, Pa.—Bucks County prosecutors says they expect to make a determination this week on whether a Warminster man should be charged in the death of an 89-year-old neighbor killed by gunfire during a seven-hour standoff at an apartment complex.

One issue being probed is whether it was a bullet fired by police or by the suspect that killed 89-year-old Marie Zienkewicz on Feb. 19. She lived directly below Andrew G. Cairns, who's charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting at police. Officers returned fire.

The Bucks County Courier Times reports ( http://bit.ly/15OlClZ) District Attorney David Heckler expects to make a decision on whether the officers' actions were justified and whether Cairns should be charged in Zienkewicz's death.

Investigators had been responding to a report Cairns was going to kill himself. Authorities say Cairns fired at officers, who fired back.
