ROCKVIEW, Pa.—State police have been searching for a vehicle whose driver didn't stop after fatally striking a woman walking along Interstate 99 in central Pennsylvania.

Troopers from the Rockview barracks say 32-year-old Sherry Houtz, of Bellefonte, was last seen alive at a Sheetz convenience store on Benner Pike about 2:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Investigators believe she was hit by a car or pickup truck, not a semi-trailer, sometime between 3:45 and 4 o'clock that morning between the exits for Penn State's Toftrees hotel and Route 322 exits.

Traffic was detoured so investigators could examine the scene and the southbound lanes reopened about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police say Wednesday they still have not found the driver or the vehicle involved.
