In October, 58-year-old Perry Hoemann, of Hoskins, was killed and another 49-year-old worker injured at the Nucor Steel plant when a piece of machinery they were working on broke loose and hit their pay loader. Hoemann was working with employees of Tube City IMS—based in Glassport, Penn.—when the accident occurred.
Sioux City, Iowa television station KTIV says ( http://bit.ly/YcQhn3) Nebraska's Occupational Safety and Health Administration office issued two citations to Tube City for employees being exposed to work hazards.
The penalty is $14,000. The company has 15 days to accept or contest the violations.
