A jury returned the guilty verdict Friday against 28-seven-year-old Tyrirk Harris in the Feb. 14 shooting death of 47-year-old Franklin Manuel Santana.
Prosecutors say the victim confronted Harris about not cleaning up after his German shepherd and Chihuahua, and the defendant pulled a gun and shot his unarmed neighbor once in the face and four times in the back.
The Philadelphia Daily News (http://bit.ly/TnaTuv) says Harris will be sentenced April 26. Assistant District Attorney Deborah Watson-Stokes said she would seek 20 to 40 years in prison, the maximum sentence for third-degree murder.
Harris testified that he acted in self-defense because Santana threatened him over the dogs.
