LAKEWOOD, N.J.—Brandon Marano has been named the general manager of the Lakewood BlueClaws of the South Atlantic League.

Joe Finley, the president of the BlueClaws, announced the hiring on Wednesday.

Marano, who had been the team's assistant general manager, replaces Geoff Brown. He resigned last week to become a senior associate athletic director at Rutgers.

Marano has been with the team since September 2000, seven months before their first game. He has overseen the operations department, including ballpark maintenance and game-day staff, while also serving as a member of the corporate sales team. He was promoted to assistant general manager of the Philadelphia Phillies' Class A affiliate in 2006.
