MEADVILLE, Pa.—The attorney for a man serving life in prison in the murders of a man and woman inside their northwestern Pennsylvania home is seeking a new trial on charges in a pharmacy robbery days before the slayings.

Attorney J. Wesley Rowden told The Erie Times-News ( that a woman who could have given 40-year-old Gary Wiley of Linesville an alibi was not called to testify during his robbery trial.

Wiley was convicted in March of first-degree murder in the April 2010 murders of 51-year-old Tod Prenatt and 44-year-old Laurie Prenatt in their home in Linesville, about 100 miles north of Pittsburgh. Prosecutors said they were killed because they knew about his involvement in the robbery.

Crawford County Judge Anthony Vardaro hasn't ruled on Rowden's request for a new trial.
