Officers in Wyoming County were trying to serve the warrant Nov. 7 at the Overfield Township home of 42-year-old Brian Williams and used a stun gun three times in an unsuccessful effort to subdue him.
The (Wilkes-Barre) Citizens' Voice ( http://bit.ly/WJU7Uj) says District Attorney Jeff Mitchell said that Williams was swinging a fireplace poker at officers when he was shot twice by the Tunkhannock Township officer. He said the officer "acted in self-defense pursuant to the law."
Mitchell said, however, that mistakes were made as officers were trying to serve the warrant that counselors had requested, saying that Williams had threatened to kill his wife.
