HARRISBURG, Pa.—Gov. Tom Corbett now says he'll announce a long-anticipated transportation funding plan next month, after his administration initially told lawmakers it would be rolled out this week.

Corbett told The Philadelphia Inquirer editorial board Wednesday that he would unveil it Feb. 5, along with his budget plan for the coming fiscal year.

Corbett previously said he'd make the announcement this month, and his administration had told lawmakers that a Thursday announcement was tentatively planned.

The Associated Press first reported last week that people familiar with the plan said its centerpiece was raising nearly $2 billion a year by increasing taxes on the fuel sold to gas stations.
