PHILADELPHIA—A fire official says a blaze that ripped through a three-story building in north Philadelphia has claimed the life of one person.

Officials said the blaze was reported just before 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Hunting Park section of the city.

A fire chief told WTXF-TV ( http://bit.ly/VTjPXU) that the victim was elderly, but no other information was immediately released.

He said the cause of the blaze remains under investigation, but it doesn't appear that the home had any working smoke detectors.
