LANCASTER, Pa.—A former Pennsylvania teacher charged with romancing a seventh-grader has been accepted into a seven-month probation program that will result in the charges being dismissed if she completes the term, including 75 hours of community service, without incident.

Defense attorney Terrence McGowan says 37-year-old Christina Layser "has constantly and adamantly denied any wrongdoing in this case and will continue to do so."

Still, Lancaster police say a 13-year-old boy tells them he considered Layser his girlfriend when they allegedly kissed, touched and exchanged love letters from October to December of 2011. The boy says the incidents happened in the math teacher's classroom and in a bathroom after school.

Layser, a married mother of two, faces criminal prosecution if she violates terms of her probation.
