Twenty-four-year-old Heather Hess is on trial for third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter in the December 2011 death of David Miller Jr.
Hess initially told police that the boy choked on a bottle cap.
The Delaware County Daily Times (http://bit.ly/ZCBhyI) says Hess testified Thursday she was swinging David around in a circle, playing "airplane." She says David flew out of her hands and hit a wall.
She says he cried but then seemed fine. Hours later she found David unresponsive, and he died in a hospital the next day.
Hess says she made up the bottle cap story because she didn't want to get in trouble.
