The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority says the man was hit by a northbound train on the Broad Street line around 9 a.m. Friday. SEPTA spokesman Andrew Busch says it wasn't immediately clear why the man was on the tracks.
SEPTA ran shuttle buses between two stations in north Philadelphia for about two hours while police investigated. Normal service has resumed, but there have been some delays.
Philadelphia police and SEPTA are investigating the accident. The name of the 38-year-old victim has not been released.
