PHILADELPHIA—A Philadelphia man is injured after being hit by gunfire from an assault rifle while lying in bed.

Police say the shooting happened around 2 a.m. Friday in the city's Wynnefield section. Investigators believe the shots were fired from a playground across the street.

The victim was sleeping in a front bedroom at the home when he was struck in the shoulder. Officials say he was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

No arrests were immediately made.
