TORRANCE, Pa.—A Pittsburgh-area man faces a preliminary hearing Wednesday on charges he killed a man who allegedly tried to rob him of money and drugs in a western Pennsylvania mobile home last month.

The defense attorney for 20-year-old Ronell Lamar Moses Jr., of Penn Hills, did not immediately return a call for comment on charges including criminal homicide filed by troopers in Greensburg.

Moses is jailed on charges he killed 24-year-old Matthew Volk, of West Wheatfield Township on Dec. 29.

Police say Volk arrived to rob Moses at a mobile home in Derry Township where Moses was staying with a couple who knew Volk. That couple and Volk's girlfriend, who police say drove him to the scene, are also charged with conspiring in the robbery and with Volk's killing, because their alleged complicity led to Volk's death.
