PHILADELPHIA—Authorities in Philadelphia say a speeding car crashed into a wall, killing two of its occupants and critically injuring a third.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports ( the accident late Sunday night killed 21-year-old Malik Morris and 22-year-old James Rose.

Police said Monday that an unidentified 24-year-old man is hospitalized and recovering from leg and head injuries.

The men were thrown from the vehicle after hitting the wall and several parked vehicles in west Philadelphia. Police say it wasn't immediately clear who was driving.

Police say Morris and Rose were close friends who lived just blocks from the crash.
