MARIANNA, Pa.—A southwestern Pennsylvania man has been jailed on charges he threatened his wife with a gun, which led to a two-hour standoff with state police.

Troopers say 59-year-old Andrew Veltri Jr., surrendered peacefully at his home in Amwell Township about 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Police were called to the home about 30 miles south of Pittsburgh when Veltri's wife told them he had been smoking marijuana, was experiencing mental problems and allegedly threatened to kill her and her family.

Police called in a special response team because Veltri's wife said he had a gun he had used to threaten her in the past.

Online court records don't list an attorney for Veltri, who remained in the Washington County Jail on Thursday, unable to post $100,000 bond.
