BEAVER, Pa.—A borough council in western Pennsylvania has reached an agreement with a police officer who was suspended after a woman claimed he stalked her and threatened to kill himself.

The Beaver County Times ( http://bit.ly/U4s9ix) reports Thursday that Sgt. Ken McCoy does not admit to any wrongdoing, but accepts previous suspensions imposed by the council, and a new suspension that will be in effect until Dec. 31.

McCoy will also be demoted to patrolman for one year, and he agreed to drop a civil lawsuit against the borough and its mayor.

McCoy's lawyer says he's satisfied with the agreement.

The council heard testimony from the woman, who filed a protection-from-abuse order on Oct. 1, and from neighbors who complained about McCoy's behavior.
