An employee of Reading Crane and Engineering Co. was rescued Thursday from the welding crane at Steelco, a Berks County metal-making plant.
Officials said the man was making repairs to the crane inside a building when officials said his arm became trapped.
Firefighters backed one of their trucks inside the building and used a ladder to reach the trapped worker and bring him down on a stretcher.
Spring Township fire commissioner Pat Brandenburg said the man's arm was injured and he was taken by ambulance to a hospital. His name wasn't released and the extent of his injuries wasn't immediately known.
