ERIE, Pa.—Gannon University in northwestern Pennsylvania has been chosen to host the Elite Eight rounds of the women's NCAA Division II basketball tournament in 2014.

Although the private Erie school will host the games, they'll be played off campus at the city's 6,700-seat Erie Insurance Arena in March 2014. Formerly known as Tullio Arena, the facility is undergoing $45 million worth of renovations.

The Elite Eight consists of teams that win eight regional tournaments, who will then compete in quarterfinal, semifinal and the national championship games.

Gannon and nearby Edinboro University have hosted regional tournament games in the past, but never the final three rounds played by the Elite Eight schools.
