Former state Sen. Raphael Musto was indicted last week on two additional bribery counts. He pleaded not guilty Wednesday in federal court in Wilkes-Barre.
The 83-year-old Luzerne County Democrat was first charged in November 2010, a week before his planned retirement. Prosecutors say he accepted cash and free building renovations in exchange for his help obtaining taxpayer funding of development projects and took additional cash as a reward for helping a municipality get state loans.
On Monday, Musto's attorneys filed a motion seeking the dismissal of charges or the indefinite postponement of his trial due to the defendant's poor health. A judge has yet to rule.
His latest trial date is Nov. 13.
