The Meadville Tribune ( http://bit.ly/XU9aMr0) reports 47-year-old Deidre Stoll apologized and said, "I never wanted him to die."
She was sentenced Tuesday after a plea bargain to voluntary manslaughter.
Police say 50-year-old Willis Stoll had grabbed her arm and pinned her to the wall during an argument on Sept. 11, 2011 and that she reacted by grabbing a kitchen knife on a nightstand and stabbing him in the side.
Deidre Stoll applied pressure to the wound and called 911, but her husband died at a hospital three days later.
The woman must also reimburse her stepdaughter for about $8,500 in funeral expenses.
