The Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era endorsed Kathleen Kane on Monday. It cited her pledge to find out why the Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse investigation took so long and said she would be an independent attorney general.
The Philadelphia Inquirer endorsed the former Lackawanna County prosecutor Sunday, citing her stand on the Sandusky probe and her promise to pursue tougher gun laws to combat urban violence.
The Inquirer criticized Republican nominee David Freed for his "forced disapproval" of a third-party attack ad aimed at Kane, which even her Republican former boss said was inaccurate and unfair.
Freed, the Cumberland County district attorney, is endorsed by both daily newspapers in Pittsburgh.
