Forty-seven-year-old Trooper Blake Coble was on patrol when his cruiser was struck by a tractor-trailer Thursday morning in Beaver County. The crash remains under investigation.
Pittsburgh Police Chief Nate Harper was among the officers paying their respects to Coble, who worked out of the Beaver barracks, about 25 miles northwest of the city.
Speaking at the Golden Dome athletic facility at the Community College of Beaver County Harper says of Coble's death that "We are all family. It's a tough pill to swallow."
Coble is survived by his wife, Brenda, who worked as a state police dispatcher, and two children.
