The Sentinel of Carlisle reports ( http://bit.ly/R44M9k) the discovery was made around 11 a.m. Friday in Oliver Township, Perry County. State police say residents were evacuated while an explosives team responded.
Authorities determined the shells no longer contained explosives and may have been used for training by the military. All residents returned safely to their homes around 1 p.m.
