Officials with the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources say Jane Connelly became disoriented when she was on the Laurel Highlands hiking trail and was reported missing about 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Officials say the woman had been hiking with someone else in the state-owned park when they became separated.
The woman had her dog with her, and took shelter overnight, using the animal to keep warm until searchers found her about 8:30 a.m. Friday.
The 13,625-acre park covers portions of Fayette, Somerset and Westmoreland counties about 45 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
Officials say the woman planned to get checked out by her own doctor as a precaution.
