JOHNSTOWN, Pa.—The defense attorney for a man charged with robbing two Johnstown-area banks says there's one big problem with the prosecution's case: surveillance video shows the robber has a tattoo on his calf, which his client does not.

But Cambria County Assistant District Attorney Joseph Green says a blown up image of the tattoo suggests it's a fake created with shoe polish.

A district judge on Thursday ordered the man, 39-year-old Dion Blair Wilt, of Westwood, to stand trial on charges he robbed the Ameriserv bank in Lower Yoder Township on Sept. 6. Police have since also charged Wilt with robbing a Conemaugh Township bank on Sept. 10 while wearing a similar disguise, including a bandanna-style Halloween mask.

Police say they charged Wilt after his wife recognized him—despite the disguise—in surveillance video shown on the TV news.
