FAYETTE CITY, Pa.—Police say a southwestern Pennsylvania teen frightened a door-knocking burglar—but not before the man stole the family's laptop computer.

State police say the suspect was knocking on doors in Fayette City Sunday evening and entering homes when no one answered. In one instance, a woman who didn't answer her door confronted the man as he climbed in her window, so he ran away.

In another house, 13-year-old Tyler Steeber was home alone so he locked himself in a bathroom and called his mother and 911 when he saw the stranger at the door.

Believing the house to be vacant, the man climbed through a window and grabbed a laptop computer before asking if anybody was home.

That's when Steeber says he screamed "Yes!" prompting the man to run away. The suspect hasn't been caught.
