Police said 39-year-old Yvette Saunders died in front of her southwest Philadelphia house while trying to protect her 18-year-old son during a drive-by shooting.
KYW ( http://cbsloc.al/RcJnJU) says several eyewitnesses identified 24-year-old Isaac Porterfield as the shooter.
But defense attorney Anthony Voci Jr. challenged the credibility and accuracy of the witnesses. He told the station that the shots were fired by a front-seat passenger in the car, not by his client, who was driving.
Voci said police couldn't find the other person and the murder weapon was never found.
Court records say Porterfield was acquitted Tuesday of charges of first- and third-degree murder, aggravated assault, and weapons counts.
