INDIANA, Pa.—A western Pennsylvania man has been ordered to stand trial in the shooting death of the father of his estranged wife.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review ( http://bit.ly/NvzKt7) says an Indian County district judge forwarded charges of homicide, burglary, receiving stolen property and aggravated assault against 32-year-old Shaun Fairman to county court after a hearing Friday.

Authorities allege that Fairman shot 55-year-old Richard Shotts after the older man tried to intervene in a dispute between the defendant and Shotts' daughter, Jennifer.

She testified that she awoke in June to hear her father begging for his life and then heard a shot, then ran for her gun and ended up wounding Fairman.

Officials said she had a protection-from-abuse order and their divorce was pending when Fairman came armed to the North Mahoning home.
